Photogrammetry is the process of stitching multiple photos together to form a 2D map 3D model or structure. Terratest Aero uses UAV’s (drones) to take these images. This process has been proven to be both effective and efficient. The UAV is programmed to fly a precise grid pattern, taking pictures with the downward facing camera. The results were to be used by the client to measure volumes and track the progress of the quarry via an online portal, allowing them to visualize their quarry from an aerial perspective. UAV’s can collect photogrammetry data extremely quickly, covering this site in a matter of minutes. The quarry below only measures 18.5ha however multiple sites can be stitched together for larger areas.
